Changing our Vision for a Better Rehoboth
"But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them(Hebrews 11:16 NKJV)

Every human being lives with an expectation that quietly governs choices, actions, and direction in life. Those expectations form our vision, and the vision we pursue determines our final destination. But visions can change. We can abandon lesser pursuits for a higher one, and Scripture urges us to lift our eyes to a better vision—an eternal one.

The Bible records of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: “But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.” — Hebrews 11:16 (NKJV). These fathers of faith lived by a vision of heaven. Though they received promises on earth, they lived as pilgrims and strangers, knowing that God’s eternal city was their true inheritance.

Isaac’s Rehoboth (Genesis 26:22) was a place of peace after strife, yet even there he did not settle permanently. He moved further to Beersheba, showing us that the best this world offers—even when peaceful—is still temporary. The lesson is clear: the world’s best cannot satisfy our deepest desires because Satan’s corruption lingers here. Only the heavenly Rehoboth, prepared by God, can satisfy eternally.

Jesus commands us: “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” —Matthew 6:33. To seek the Kingdom is to fix our vision on heaven’s realities, trusting God to add what we need on earth. Too often, believers entangle themselves in the world’s pursuits, laboring endlessly for material gain and recognition, only to become weary and unfulfilled. Scripture warns us: “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” —1 John 2:15.

Our call is to a higher pursuit: to walk by faith, like the patriarchs, breaking free from worldly entanglements that weigh us down. “Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.” —Hebrews 12:1–2. Faith teaches us to resist temporary distractions and to press toward eternal glory.

This is our Rehoboth Advantage—that while the world chases shadows, we have the assurance of a better country, a heavenly city built by God Himself (Hebrews 11:10). Our struggles and trials are not wasted; they are stepping stones toward the fulfillment of God’s promise. Paul reminds us: “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” —2 Corinthians 4:17.

Beloved, it is time to change our vision. Refuse to settle for the world’s best or worst offers. Align your heart with heaven’s realities and walk daily by faith, obedience, and dependence on the Holy Spirit. In Christ, you have a better Rehoboth—an eternal inheritance that cannot be shaken.

I invite you today to give your life to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. He alone leads to that heavenly city where every desire is perfectly fulfilled. Reach out with your prayer requests—we are ready to stand with you in faith.

Jesus is Lord!
